Sparkle + Metal was founded in the latter part of 2009 more born out of a hobby than anything else.  In December 2008 I lost a very special person in my life and to try and occupy my mind and pull myself out of a serious state of darkness I signed up for a jewelry making class working with precious metal clay -  I have always been one to dive right into the advanced classes and skip over the foundation!  I was hooked and starting going back for a new class every week and I found that the sparkle of the gemstones really lifted my spirit.  I started to wear the things I had created in my classes and people started asking me to make them things! Eventually a few people mentioned Etsy to me and Sparkle + Metal was born.  Initially it wasn’t really a business to me, it was more of a way to share some sparkle with the world, and hopefully bring some light to other people.  But I found myself really engrossed in creating and marketing and selling.  Even today after leaping away from Etsy and running my own website I am giddy with each order I receive – it has never become routine.  I really am in love with creating each piece and enclosing it in a pretty package and shipping it off to it’s happy new home.  I think I am different from many other companies because my goal at the end of each day is to really share some sparkle with as many people as possible.  It’s not about how many things I sell, or how successful I become, it’s about creating the best possible piece I can and allowing it to live out in the world and make someone feel good when they put it on!  It’s about spreading a little sparkle one day at a time.
